Science Curriculum Developer

The Nuffield Foundation

Salary range: £44k-50k pa

Position:

Programme Head, Twenty First Century Science The Nuffield Foundation is looking for an enthusiastic and creative science educator. The successful candidate will work for half of their time leading the Nuffield contribution to the revisions of Twenty First Century Science GCSE specifications and resources. This work will be in partnership with the University of York Science Education Group, awarding body OCR and publishers OUP, to revise Twenty First Century Science in line with QCA's criteria for science, for first teaching in 2011. The rest of the time will be spent working on a range of science and STEM projects in the curriculum programme, joining the team of curriculum developers at Nuffield. This London-based post is from September 2009, or as soon as possible after this.

A background in secondary teaching (11-19) is necessary, along with understanding of the current curriculum landscape and experience of writing curriculum materials. We are looking for a physics or chemistry specialist, to balance the expertise of the current Nuffield team.

This appointment will be for two years initially. Applications will be considered from candidates wishing to work part time and/ or flexibly.
