MSc/PgDip in Forensic Engineering & Science

Suitable for graduates looking for an opportunity to acquire an understanding of the application of key scientific disciplines to problems in forensic science and engineering. Some training in legal aspects and courtroom skills is also provided, thus helping to equip the students to practice as professional forensic scientists. 

Takes you on to career opportunities in forensic engineering and science with, for example, government bodies, police departments and independent forensic consultants working for insurance companies.

You will be taught by staff from the Faculty of Defence & Security of Cranfield University, many of them world leaders in their field, who understand the problems of translating the theory into practice. Visiting lecturers include experts from industry, research establishments and Government departments.

Assessment:
Students are assessed on written and oral examinations, continuous assessment, coursework and on their project dissertations.

Course description:
The emphasis throughout the Forensic Engineering and Science course is on the application of engineering and the physical sciences to forensic problems.

The main body of the course comes after a three week period of Introductory Studies and consists of ten compulsory modules and one elective module selected from a choice of four.

Each module is of five days’ duration, interspersed with weeks devoted to private study and visits to forensic science establishments.

Entry Requirements:
1st or 2nd class honours degree (or equivalent) in a scientific or engineering subject or the equivalent professional qualification. Students whose native language is not English must attain an IELTS score of 7.
