JOB DESCRIPTION

Department of Geography

The MSc in Urban Sustainability cuts across traditional boundaries between the social and physical sciences to take a broad view of the subject. Themes and issues on the programme draw on world class research in the Department of Geography. These include urban governance, community development, urban ecology and hydrology. Students will explore case studies from across the globe, including the Caribbean, Africa and Europe.

The MSc in Urban Sustainability has been designed in close collaboration with some of the leading regeneration employers in south east England, including Local Authorities, Regional Development Agencies and private-sector consultancies. Career opportunities open to our graduates range from environmental and planning consultancy to research and policy work in the public sector.

The strengths of the course are:

  • Close ties with the policy and regeneration community including local and regional government
  • A unique programme that mixes social and physical science approaches
  • Research skills training and a chance to develop your own ideas through a dissertation
  • We encourage full-time and part-time students from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Study at one of the UK's top 10 research-intensive universities and one of the top 200 universities in the world
