Corporate Communications Executive

Royal Society of Chemistry
Cambridge, England, UK
Jobs in UKJobs in EnglandFull-time (Temporary)

Job description
Overview:

Each of our more than 500 employees at the Royal Society of Chemistry helps to connect the world with chemistry, whether we’re editing and publishing the latest research to help scientists solve global challenges, helping teachers to inspire their students, or influencing government policy to be informed by scientific evidence. With such wide-ranging activity and ambitious goals, we need each one of our employees to feel they’re connected to our strategy and to each other.

We want our communications to give us a strategic advantage – and we want to be able to prove we’re doing so. That’s why we’re looking for an experienced communications specialist with expertise in internal communications and measurement to join our busy Communications & Marketing directorate for up to six months. You’ll need to be able to hit the ground running to maintain continuity of support across a broad range of communications activities, all aiming to contribute effectively towards achieving the core strategic goals of our organisation.

The ideal candidate has great experience in using, evaluating and continuously improving a wide range of channels and tactics to engage employees of a diverse organisation. You’ll be a great writer, editor and storyteller, with a good understanding of communications best practice and a desire to stay at the cutting edge. And you’ll be comfortable influencing and negotiating with tact as well as managing multiple projects and deadlines at once. Experience in creating and operating an intranet is highly desirable.

You’ll be based at our office at the Science Park in Cambridge, with occasional work outside of office hours and national travel required.

In return for your specialist expertise and passion for promoting the positive impact of chemistry and science generally, we will ensure you have the support and tools to be successful in this temporary role.

The Royal Society of Chemistry is a not-for-profit organisation with a 175-year heritage. We’re a successful international publisher of high-quality chemical science research, the UK’s professional body for chemical scientists, and an influential voice for the chemistry community. We have a lot to celebrate and a lot to share, and so internal communications are an ever-more vital part of our organisation. If you’re a talented internal communicator who wants to tell great stories about a successful not-for-profit making a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
